Pico Soil Moisture Probe

The Pico Soil Moisture Probes are fast and accurate sensors which are ideal for monitoring soil moisture, temperature and electrical conductivity in soils and other porous materials. Data can be read from a handheld unit, logged or sent via the Van Walt Telemetry system to a PC for analysis.

German manufacturer IMKO, have been active in soil moisture measurement using TDR technology since 1984. For fast growing crops and specialty crops, volumetric moisture and electrical conductivity is essential for targeted control of water and nutrient supply.

Monitoring Water Flow

Aggie has been busy on site carrying out flow gauging duties with the NivuFlow stick. The Flow Stick is often used for verification purposes of bigger installations such as flumes. We also use the Flow Stick for site surveys, pre-installation. Van Walt offer multiple solutions for monitoring flow for varying applications including pipes, culverts and streams.

Soil Investigation

One of the most important requirements for sampling is profiling. This can be done by using standard hand augers. However, for harder soils where it may be necessary to sample to depths of 8-10m, it may be required to use a mechanically driven sampling set. The window sampler is the ideal kit for this.
