Our attendance at the Manchester BSSS conference was an affirmation of how dedicated and passionate this organisation are towards the future of soil science. Training Course

Our next course is scheduled for Tuesday 12th-Wednesday 13th May. We have revised our course, and are pleased to offer a refreshed programme which includes more technical and practical aspects of environmental research, including the use of equipment for different applications and maintenance and calibration in the field.

ADOPT project

Van Walt were invited to be part of the UKRI ADOPT programme as a technological partner to help assist with research that will look at the use of sensors to help growers achieve optimal water and crop quality. Josh and Vincent have wrapped up a two day installation of soil moisture and soil tension sensors.

Soil Research

With the demand for soil moisture logging increasing, we have expanded our range of sensors. From 120cm length probes for in-situ field installations to 51mm length probes for wholesale pot plants. We offer these sensors either with hand held readout devices, or as of a bespoke telemetered installation.

It was great to see Ikky and David out of the office together manning the Van Walt stand at the AGS - Association of Geotechnical & Geoenvironmental Specialists, annual conference in London. Thank you to everyone who came and said hi. It was lovely to put faces to names, and to see customers new and old!

Peat Probes

Measuring the depth of a peat layer: The simplest tool in the trio of samplers for peatlands is the peat probe. These are fibreglass rods with a metal tip which are pushed into the peat until resistance is felt. The distance between the ground level and the resistance is the thickness of the peat layer.
